- room in your heart and home to foster a little dog or cat? -or-
- grant writing, graphic design, photography, or other skills you'd like to contribute to help our rescue animals?

Foster - Provide a temporary home for a pet in need.
Fostering is absolutely crucial to our organization and is one of the most enriching experiences for our foster "parents." We have several options for fostering a pet, depending on the level of involvement you would like in finding the animal a home. Please call 408-876-6221 and leave a message or email us volunteer@staranimalrescue.org for more information on your options as a foster parent.
"I can't bear the thought of caring for an animal and having to give it up." We often get this response from animal lovers. Of course you will love and have an attachment to your foster pet, but seeing him/her in the arms of their excited adopter, heading for a forever home, is incredibly rewarding. Finding a home for your foster pet also frees up a place in your home to save another needy animal if you wish.
"What happens if I want to adopt my foster pet?" Adoption can be available as an option for foster parent. Payment of the adoption fee is required to adopt your new pet.
Food, medicine, and other needed supplies are all provided by STAR. As foster parent you will your provide a loving home, attend to basic needs such as feeding, walking, and perhaps teaching your foster animal some basic skills such as housetraining, walking on leash, and commands or tricks to help them make it in their new home. STAR provides a foster coordinator to personally answer questions and provide advice and assistance to new foster parents.
